How Do I License Drone and Aerial Imagery for AI?

A GTM play for Revnu, for geospatial AI, mapping and remote sensing companies. Survey, aerial mapping and inspection firms keep years of past captures on their drives. Revnu finds them by age, size and what they fly, finds the owner's work email, and reaches them by email and LinkedIn.

A land survey firm that has flown drones for ten years has thousands of sites captured in photos, lidar and thermal. Most of it sat on a drive after the client got the deliverable. Revnu finds survey, mapping and inspection firms, checks how long they have flown and what, and writes to the owner with an offer for past captures.

Why it works

Past captures are paid for and done. A small survey firm decides on one call with the owner, and an offer that names their services and their region reads as revenue from finished work.

How to run it

  1. Name the imagery you need. Photogrammetry, lidar, thermal, roofs, roads, farmland, pipelines, a region.

  2. Find the firms. Revnu searches land surveyors, drone service companies, aerial photographers and inspectors by founding year, size and location, and reads each website for sensors and site types.

  3. Qualify them. Older firms and ones that list drone and aerial work rank first; job posts for drone pilots are noted.

  4. Find the owner. The owner or principal, with a verified work email and their LinkedIn profile.

  5. Write by email and LinkedIn. The email names the firm, its region and the work it flies, and offers to price the library from one finished survey, with client-confidential sites left out. A LinkedIn connection request follows, then a follow-up.

  6. Run it every week. Revnu adds new firms and new pilot hires as they appear.

The prompt

Find drone survey, aerial mapping and inspection firms in [country or states] founded before [year] with [size] people. Read each website for the sensors and site types they fly. Find the owner or principal and their work email. Write an email that names their firm, region and work, and offers to license past captures to train mapping models, paid per square kilometre, with client-confidential sites left out. Connect on LinkedIn three days later.

Try this in Revnu

Each lead keeps its reason on its Signals tab with the source. Your first sequence waits for your approval in Review.

Run it every week

Every Monday, find survey firms in [region] that posted a drone pilot job last week and add them to the Imagery Libraries campaign.

Set it up once as a workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which firms have the most imagery?

Land surveyors and civil engineering firms that added drones years ago, aerial photography companies, and roof, utility and pipeline inspectors.

What about client-confidential sites?

They stay out. The offer says so, and the firm decides what is in the library.

Can it reach firms outside the US?

Yes. Revnu searches the UK, Europe and other markets and writes in the owner's language.
