# How Do I Catch Companies in the Middle of Switching Tools?

> A GTM play for Revnu. Companies change tools in a short window: a new script on the website, an old one gone, a job post naming the new system. Revnu watches for the change and writes to the company while the decision is still being made.

A company that just added a tool to its website, dropped an old one, or posted a job asking for experience with a new system is mid-switch. That window is short, and it's the only time they're comparing options. Revnu spots the change and reaches them while the decision is still open.

## Why it works

Most technographic lists tell you what a company runs today. That's a fit signal, not a timing signal. A change is timing: when a competitor's script disappears from a site, the company just left them. When a job post asks for "experience migrating to Salesforce", the project has a budget and a start date.

## How to run it

1. **Name the tools.** Your product, your competitors, and the tools that sit next to yours.
2. **Pick the change.** "Added [tool]", "removed [competitor]", or "uses [tool A] but is hiring for [tool B]".
3. **Find and check.** Revnu checks each company's website and public tech evidence, and reads job posts for the tools they name.
4. **Find the owner.** Whoever runs the system: RevOps, marketing ops, engineering or the founder at a small company.
5. **Write about the switch.** "Saw you moved off [competitor]" or "saw you're bringing in [tool]", then how you make that move go well.
6. **Watch the list.** Add companies to a watch and Revnu tells you the day their stack changes.

## The prompt

> Find companies that fit our buyer and [recently stopped using [competitor] / recently added [tool] / use [tool A] but are hiring for [tool B] experience]. Show the evidence for each, find the person who owns that system and their work email, and write an email about the switch they're making and how we make it easier.

Each lead shows the tool change and its evidence on its **Signals** tab. Your first sequence waits for your approval in **Review**.

## Run it every week

> Every Monday, check the companies in my Leads for tools added or removed since last week. Tell me which ones dropped [competitor] or added [tool], and start the Switchers sequence for the ones that fit.

Set it up as a [workflow](https://revnu.com/docs/recurring-work.md) once and it runs on its own. For a faster alert, ask Revnu to [watch](https://revnu.com/docs/watches.md) a list of companies. See the [workflows API](https://revnu.com/docs/workflows.md).

## Frequently asked questions

### How does Revnu know a company changed tools?

From public evidence: the scripts and tags on its website, its public DNS records, and what its job posts ask for. Revnu compares what it finds now with what it found before, and shows the evidence on the lead.

### Which tools can Revnu detect?

Anything that leaves a public trace: analytics and ad pixels, chat widgets, marketing automation, email providers, ecommerce platforms, payment tools, and any tool named in a job post.

### What's the strongest version of this play?

A competitor's tool removed from a site. The company just left your competitor and is choosing what's next. Write fast.

### Can Revnu watch my existing leads for changes?

Yes. Ask Revnu to check your leads for tool changes every week, or to [watch](https://revnu.com/docs/watches.md) a short list closely.

### Should I mention how I know?

Keep it natural: "noticed you're moving to [tool]" reads fine. Job posts and websites are public, so the evidence is easy to explain if they ask.
